A creamy, homemade chocolate hazelnut spread that is budget-friendly, kid-approved, and free of additives.

Ingredients
  

For the Base
  • 2 cups hazelnuts Roasted for that toasty flavor
  • ¼ tsp pure vanilla extract Adds a lovely aromatic touch
  • ¼ cup cocoa powder Because chocolate makes everything better
  • cup sweetener of choice Sugar, honey, or maple syrup—your pick!
  • ¼ tsp salt Just a pinch for balance
Optional Ingredients
  • ½ cup milk of choice For creaminess, if desired
  • 2 tbsp oil For creaminess, if desired

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F and roast hazelnuts for 6-8 minutes or until they start to brown.
  2. Wrap the roasted hazelnuts in a paper towel and rub to remove the skins.
Making Nut Butter
  1. Blend hazelnuts in a Vitamix or food processor until they turn into a creamy nut butter, which may take up to 20 minutes.
Mixing Ingredients
  1. Add vanilla extract, cocoa powder, sweetener, and salt to the nut butter and blend until well combined.
  2. For extra creaminess, add milk or oil and blend again until smooth.

Notes
