Ingredients

Churro Dough
  • 1 cup plain flour Use all-purpose flour for best results.
  • 1 cup water
  • cup unsalted butter Make sure it’s unsalted for the right flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
Cinnamon Sugar Coating
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon powder

Method

Preparation of Churro Dough
  1. In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, 1/3 cup of butter, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 2 tablespoons of sugar. Bring this mixture to a boil over high heat.
  2. Once boiling, reduce the heat and slowly whisk in 1 cup of flour. Stir until the dough comes together smoothly.
  3. Turn off the heat and let it cool for about 4-5 minutes before the next step.
Mixing Ingredients
  1. Once the dough has cooled slightly, add 1 large egg and 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence. Use an electric hand mixer to whip until smooth and creamy.
Piping the Churro Bites
  1. Transfer the dough into a piping bag and preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Spray the basket with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. Pipe bite-sized churros into the basket, ensuring not to overcrowd them.
Cooking
  1. Lightly brush melted butter on top of the churros and air fry for about 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
Coating
  1. Mix together 1 cup of white sugar and 1 tablespoon of cinnamon powder in a shallow bowl.
  2. Once churros are out of the fryer, toss them in the cinnamon sugar mixture to coat evenly.
Serving
  1. Serve churro bites warm with dips like chocolate syrup, Nutella, or honey.

Notes

For any leftovers, store in an airtight container in the fridge for about 2-3 days. Reheat in the air fryer for a crispy texture. For a flavor twist, consider adding lemon zest or almond extract in the dough.
